Volunteer to clean up the shelter building and yard or paint the facility. A few strong people with trucks are desperately needed to help transport furniture for women moving into new homes. Help is also needed with childcare and with the crisis phone line/office work.

Transportation Volunteers needed to pick up baked good at area merchants and deliver to Food Finders Food Bank. This makes for a good group opportunity, as the responsibility can be divided among group members for a once-a-month activity.

Groups can volunteer to pick up food from local merchants and bring it to the food bank, sort through food, help with backpack program by transporting or filling backpacks with food, help with repair work, groundskeeping, or assist with one of the special events throughout the year.

Your group can bring a little fun into the lives of nursing home residents. Help with Bingo Games on weekday evenings, or decorate the facility for Halloween, Thanksgiving, or Christmas. Other activities, such as tailgate parties during Purdue games and Social Hours need groups. Groups are also needed to play Euchre with the residents, provide entertainment, or assist with Bingo.

During the Christmas season, the Volunteer Bureau provides the Giving Tree program. Housed at MCL Cafeteria and Old Country Buffet, our Tree has a variety of opportunities for your group to help area agencies with the extra demands brought on by the season. Grab an ornament containing the item or service project you would like to help with and contact the agency to get started.

Volunteers are needed to work on specific projects – landscaping houses, building for a day, warehouse clean up, bulk mailing preparation.

The Hanna Center has many volunteer opportunities for your group. Host a holiday party for the children, maintain the playground area, or tutor and help with homework. Groups can also work with seniors who visit the center.

Your group can help by sharing musical talents, spending one-on-one time with the residents, becoming pen pals with a resident, participating in the Adopt-a-grandparent program, putting up and decorating monthly calendars and Bulletin Boards, decorating the facility in monthly themes, or making and decorating pies for the Thanksgiving Pie Social.

This children's museum for exploration of space and science needs volunteers to assist with many projects. Some include: exhibit demonstrations, gift shop, clerical and computer tasks, repairs, general upkeep, and children's activities. Scientific expertise is not necessary, but new workshop ideas/presenters are always welcome. A special group for teen volunteers (age 12 and up), called "the Imaginary Friends", has many exciting projects planned.

Join Indiana's largest long-term health care facility "serving those who served." Groups are always welcome to help with special projects, bingo games, quarterly birthday parties, and seasonal decorating. Seniors especially enjoy groups that can share musical talents or other forms of entertainment. The Nursing unit and library need volunteers. Cleaning, painting and minor household repairs are needed when families moving out. Meals need to be prepared for homeless at Lincoln Center.

Groups are needed to help plant and prune.

Groups are needed for a variety of tasks at LUM. The Homeless Shelter can use groups to clean the facility, prepare meals, or stay overnight at the shelter. The After School program can also use a group to work with kids. In addition, LUM needs volunteers to help with office mailings, and its annual Christmas time project, Jubilee Christmas. Fundraising events, such as the Hunger Hike, can also use groups of volunteers.

Matrix provides support for pregnant women and families with young children. Groups are needed to sort clothing donations, prepare mailings, and assist with fundraisers.

McAllister Center needs a group to help with its BookWorm program, a reading program for pre-school kids. Also, groups can help with neighborhood group functions and light office work. A larger group is needed for the Holiday Neighborhood Association party in December.

There are many people whose only contact with the outside world is your smiling face and a hot meal. Pairs of volunteers from your group can take turns delivering meals once a week. There are 12-15 homes on each route. Delivery begins at 10:30 a.m. and is completed by 12:30.

The Seeds of Hope Day Shelter needs volunteer groups to prepare meals for clients for lunch or dinner on any day.

Groups of volunteers can help maintain and improve the ecosytems and infrastructures of NICHES properties by removing invasive plant species, picking up trash mowing or watering areas, clearing trails, etc.

Through proactive rescue, adoption efforts, and an affordable spay/neuter program, we can eliminate euthanasia as a method of pet control. Volunteers can make catnip toys; NCISN will furnish all needed materials.

Volunteers are often needed to work at health fairs for a few hours on weekends. In addition, your group can shred documents, do general clerical jobs, assist with computer work, or clean the inside and outside of the building.

Volunteer can assist with various fundraisers throughout the year, including a football fundraiser to assist with parking at Purdue home football games.

Groups can help plan special activities for youth group on Tuesday evenings, take turns working in the food pantry throughout the week, or doing yard work. The shelter also needs volunteers to make meals, assist with grocery shopping at Food Finders Food Bank, or work with kids who are currently staying there. Finally many volunteers are needed throughout November and December to help with the many holiday projects of the Army.
